Electrostatic Transition Lenses

A transition lens is used in ion beam optics to focus particles while simultaneously changing their kinetic energy. By applying different potentials across its electrodes, it creates an asymmetric electric field. This allows the lens to accelerate or decelerate the ions, transitioning them between different energy levels within the system.
